About Us

Welcome to Magical Page Publishing! We are passionate about helping reluctant readers become eager readers.

We are a teacher team with 30 years’ experience in elementary education. Teaching in many impoverished populations, we saw first-hand our students’ struggles with life, learning, and especially reading. We taught many years in third and fourth grades. When we tried to help our students find books, we discovered a sad gap in the library! There were few books available for 8-11 year-old struggling readers. These kids were tired of “baby books” but did not yet have the skills to conquer a standard middle grade book. For this reason, they would often select books that were far too easy or far too difficult. We spent a lot of time, energy, and attention trying to pair readers with books that “fit” them well. But the sad truth was, there was a very low selection of appropriate texts to choose from. So we decided to write our own!

Another thing we faced everyday in our classroom was the social and emotional struggle. Our students were rapidly growing and changing, facing new social dilemmas without many emotional processing skills. From tantrums to fistfights, we saw the need for children to experience safe and healthy emotional processing. So we packed our books with social/emotional learning and adventures!

Now we are happy to announce that our books incorporate high interest themes and social-emotional skills in a fun, relatable way! We pair this with a reading level that’s more accessible to struggling students. To read more about how our books help reluctant readers, click below.
